Medication ~ "Tramedo"

I went back to the doc yesterday, told him about my bad reaction to Tramedo. He's put it on my file under my sub-heading of "allergies"...... lots listed there!

He said it was highly likely I had a reaction to the synthetic codeine. I gave him the rest of the packet, he can give it to someone who can cope with it.

Now what? I really need pain relief!! He went through a list of medications, and decided to try me on a combination of things, and if they don't work the next step up is "narcotics". Yikes. I really don't want to take something that I could become addicted to.

I now have Panadol Osteo & Codapane Forte. Took two of the Codapane capsules after dinner........ the pain in my hip eased off, (after two hours) but the pain in my back didn't change. I took two Panadol before I went to bed and had a reasonable sleep, only woke up twice.

They shoot horses in better condition.

Like Lyndi, I can't take anything with codeine in.
Occupational health at work suggested I took co-codemil, as I had a lot of pain(according to them 'unexplained' pain, according to me and my doc, it was work stress related).
So I took them, and went to work - the whole idea of taking them.
I don't think I had any pain, but I couldn't tell. I also got little work done. I slurred when I answered the phone and I found the keyboard very interesting, in fact it was amazing!!. I couldn't stop staring at it (I didn't know what it was) I tried sending an e-mail, but fortunately failed.
Apparently I was also giggling at the keyboard and snorting!!
I was totally 'out of my box' - but was at work :-D :-D :-D :-D

For some reason or another, I was sent home. :-S

They actually believed, in that state, I was safe to walk the half mile to the bus station and catch a bus. Fortunately a colleague gave me a lift.
Thank god I don't drive.

It was suggested, at a later date, that I took a 'cold cure' so I could go to work with a horrendous dose of flu. I declined. The only thing that works for me when I'm ill is paracetamol (ibuprofen at a stretch), whisky toddies and sleep!!

I also can't take ace inhibitors - same effect as codeine.
Tramedo is a synthetic codeine, and apparently doesn't cause the user to get 'high', but I, personally would avoid it.

I would make an awful (but cheap) drug addict :-0

It's horrible. I still feel like my head is "somewhere else" :-S

If I drop something I leave it on the floor, because if I bend over my head spins like crazy.

I'll be going back to the doc next week, hopefully he can prescribe something more suited to me.

I had 3 small glasses of "brown liquid medication" last night and slept very well :-D

Might try a nippie sweetie tonight :-D :-D

I took it once years ago LadyScozz - I am not sure whether they dealt with the pain or just knocked me out! When I woke the next morning I felt as if the floor 'wasn't there' lol. I felt awful and looked wild-eyed and crazed, and had to stay off work.:-S

My daughter however can take two four times a day and continue to function normally! :-)

If I take any meds containing codeine I am away with the fairies lol ;-)

No alcohol, sedatives, tranquilizers or narcots!

Just the usual cocktail of BP medications :-(

Doc gave me two prescriptions, one for the Tramadol I tried, and the other for a stronger Tramadol! I don't think I'll get that one.

Going out tonight......... I'll self medicate :-D

I've just Googled as I hadn't heard of it under that name ...............

you didn't any of these did you .........

You should not take tramadol if you have used alcohol, sedatives, tranquilizers, or narcotic medications within the past few hours.

as you say, some of the side effects are scary!

Maybe it was too much, too soon and just taking one a day to start with and build up to prescribed dose or stop when pain is controlled, whichever comes first, would help.

Most medicines have side effects but I think it's worth trying to make them work.

Did your dr not offer something else? Or did they suggest you try again?

Hope the dizziness goes soon

Have any of you taken this?

Also known as Tramadol Hydrochloride.

It's a strong pain-killer.

It's only available on prescription in Oz, the doc gave it to me this week.

Took two with lunch, two with dinner......... woke up the next morning with terrible nausea & headspin, felt so bad DH took me to the doctor. They put me on the ECG machine, took blood pressure, a spot of blood, and several glasses of water. No idea what was wrong. I went home, back to bed and slept for six hours!

Must be the medication, so I stopped taking it. I haven't taken it for a couple of days, the nausea is going away, but I'm still dizzy. I'd rather put up with the pain.

:-(

Edit: I googled for it, and some of the side effects are scary
