I am still recovering from shock and delight at the news of Peter Cech coming to the Emirates. The airline are sponsors of the Pompey Spinnaker Tower hence the red and white paint proposal.

hang out more red & white flags

what you can do on a dull day instead of painting Fratton Park red

It is only Portsmouth that think they are rivals to the Saints. The south coast needle has shifted to Bournemouth.

Poor Pompey hit by one thing after another - terrible ownership of the football club which was nearly terminal, the Trident Centre (demolished), pedestrianisation of the Commercial Rd (which killed it), dockyard business given to the Scots as a referendum sweetener. And on top of all the Tower when the money would have been far better spent on Southsea Pier.

Pint of Brickwoods anybody ?

Oh I rather like it, seen against a blue sky. Having said that, if there is too much blue it will blend with the sky.

I think it was not so much that it was not going to be blue Sharron but that it was going to be the colour of arch rivals Southampton. :-D

I hate the Spinnaker tower it is utter kitsch. Maybe one dark night the Polish scrap metal dealers will come over from Southampton and cart it away. Or it will be sold off to finance the city council's delicate finances. As it is no.2 ugly construction after the Tricorn - and look what happened to that.

At least I now know it was red paint and not red ink left over by the Fratton Park acocuntants.

No,no,no! They do have quite a lot of red paint to spare though.

Red was the original idea, the livery of the sponsor, but the football team supporters complained so it is going to be blue now.

That's a point.

Our house would have been all red because he would have been bringing that paint home with him!

Lol Sharron I am sure Fred would have treated that as an adventure.

Is this where they are repainting it with red and white?

The solar heating is fine thanks, always was.

The problem was with the water tank which tripped out every time it was hot.

I told them the thermostats were faulty and needed replacing but what do I know?

Anyway, after three months without hot water and me letting in a different man and taking him upstairs every time OH went out, their having tried all the clever solutions, they replaced the thermostats and we have had constant hot water ever since.

I am just considering writing to the contractors to demand they replace my preserving pan which was never designed to heat copious amounts of hot water and looks a bit odd now, not fit for purpose.

There was a bit on the television the other night showing the Spinnaker Tower being painted.

The painters were hanging on the side like abseilers.

You only really need one hand to slap the paint on and one leg to kick yourself round.

I know who could have done that job, after he had finished the washing up and the washing.

The carers would just have had to come in extra early to get him up in time.
