Hi Margee

I wish I could send you some of this sun and heat ............ we've had way too much!!!

We normally do not get such high temperatures, so relatively few houses are air-conditioned :-(

We may be in your area in early October :-)

Hi Gwyn

Here's another Canadian who hadn't heard of that remembrance. How lovely!

Sylvia, I wish I could send you some of our rain. We've had way too much!

Gwyn

how nice to hear about that little remembrance.

I had never heard of it before.

Thank you

I thought of you all in Canada, but wasn't online yesterday.

I saw the primary school children making their way with their teachers to Shorncliffe Military cemetery to lay individual posies on the graves of Canadian soldiers buried so far from home.

I'm pleased this local remembrance is still observed.

Thank you Ann, and everyone who has posted.

It is a HUGE day in Canada ................ every city, town, and village has had parades, street parties, festivals, and there will fireworks this evening. There won't be as many fireworks displays as in a normal year in western Canada (BC east to Manitoba), because we are in a serious drought and everywhere is tinder dry.

Everyone thinks of July 4 as a huge celebration ........... it's almost as big up here :-)

This was the 148th anniversary of the founding of Canada. So we have a huge celebration coming up in 2 years time for the 150th anniversary

A Case Of You
by Joni Mitchell

Just before our love got lost you said
"I am as constant as a northern star"
And I said "Constantly in the darkness
Where's that at?
If you want me I'll be in the bar"

On the back of a cartoon coaster
In the blue TV screen light
I drew a map of Canada
Oh Canada
With your face sketched on it twice
Oh you're in my blood like holy wine
You taste so bitter and so sweet

Oh I could drink a case of you darling
Still I'd be on my feet
oh I would still be on my feet

Oh I am a lonely painter
I live in a box of paints
I'm frightened by the devil
And I'm drawn to those ones that ain't afraid

I remember that time you told me you said
"Love is touching souls"
Surely you touched mine
'Cause part of you pours out of me
In these lines from time to time
Oh, you're in my blood like holy wine
You taste so bitter and so sweet

Oh I could drink a case of you darling
And I would still be on my feet
I would still be on my feet

I met a woman
She had a mouth like yours
She knew your life
She knew your devils and your deeds
And she said
"Go to him, stay with him if you can
But be prepared to bleed"

Oh but you are in my blood
You're my holy wine
You're so bitter, bitter and so sweet

Oh, I could drink a case of you darling
Still I'd be on my feet
I would still be on my feet
