I have just remembered that the Standard renewal fee information for me had various ticks listed against what was available to a standard member, one tick was against .....50 FREE credits, well I haven't been given any!

So what is the criteria for getting the Free credits I wonder, does one have to be a brand new member?? this is also misleading, in my opinion!

If I click on upgrade for standard I'm quoted 1.80 EUROS a month always been in pounds before. This is always paid with an English card from an English bank so why have they changed this. I will have to pay to have my GBP changed to euros!

It works out at today's rate of exchange to about £16.00

Considering a standard member cannot access genealogy records i think it is expensive because most of the information i have used to trace my family tree have come from free sites.

i have some of my tree here, but am not researching it anymore and so i am happy to pay a small fee but would not continue if they hiked it up a lot.

It is a very confusing set up. I feel sorry for those who are paying twice as much as I am, for Standard membership, that is outrageous.

i just clicked on that Joan, and it said 75pence per month,( 12 months) so i shall wait and see if that is what they quote me..

thank you :-)

Amokavid Report 2 Jul 2015 23:01

Yes I think you do have to wait Stella.
I didn't know what my renewal fee was going to be until I received a renew message
which was showing at the top of my page, where it says UPGRADE at the moment.

please will you tell me where to look to find my membership fees?

But that's still a vast difference, Andysmum, you'll be paying £9.00 for 6 months whereas others are paying the same for a year and others, me amongst them, are paying £6.75 for the year. It's just not fair!

Andysmum

Andysmum Report 2 Jul 2015 22:14

12 month plan £1.67 per month*

6 month plan £1.66 per month
Save 10%£1.50 per month*

1 month plan £4.95 per month*

Save £39.36 compared to the 1 month plan.

Mine is slightly different, but the 6 month plan comes to £9.00, so it looks as though I shall be paying an increase of £1.04.

I get the same as Amokavid when I click on Margee's link. If I click on premium it's £6.67 a month for 12 month plan, which is...........um, too much lol.

Thanks for the explanation, Island, re: the link taking me to my personal membership sub page.

To answer your question, Claire, I'm logged in to genesreunited.co.uk. I don't think there is a genesreunited.ca but feel free to correct me if I'm wrong.

They've been 'slowly' moving everyone to the same rate for about five years - around the time that they were introducing those 'key new features'.

Methinks Liam c&p'd an old excuse - oops.....reason :-)

They won't get their act together because they know members will have a moan then cough up whatever they are asked for.

Amokavid

Amokavid Report 2 Jul 2015 19:35

So, if they are gradually moving members over to the same / new renewal rate WHY then are they offering different rates when their renewal is due?
If they continue in the same vein Standard members will NEVER be paying the same!

Joan.
