Sliding wardrobe doors and fitted carpets

We are going to have wall to wall fitted wardrobes with sliding doors.
We are also going to get a new carpet. We don't know if the sliding doors should be fitted onto the new carpet, or wait till the wardrobes are up, then get the carpet fitted up to the doors.
Just wondering if anyone else has been in the same boat, and what they have done?
I'm going out now, but will answer any replies when I get back.
Thanks.

When we moved here the wardobes had been fitted over the carpet. However we have since had new carpet and fitted it across the wardobes. Probably save money by fitting the wardrobes first..

Not only will you save money it is much easier if or when you change your carpet.

What Phyll has suggested.

If, in the distant future, you decide to change the carpet, it will be much easier. Occasionally carpets stretch. As long as the wardrobe isn't sitting on it, it will be easier to get fixed.

You might want to fit a strip of batten to the floor first then the track so there is something solid to end the carpet against.

Thanks everyone for your replies. You've all helped us decide to get the wardrobes done first, then the carpet afterwards. Think we'll save some of the offcuts of the carpet and put it down on the floor inside the wardrobe.
