Assuming you're refering to WW1, not sure why it needs to be conducted by PM

For background
"3rd (Reserve) Battalion
August 1914 : in Bury. A training unit, it remained in UK throughout the war. Moved within days of declaration of war to Hull and in November 1916 to Withernsea, at all time being part of the Humber Garrison."

As you've probably already been told, over 70% of WW1 records were destroyed in WW2 bombing. The Medal Index cards survived but tend to be filed by initial and surname.

If your man remained in the UK and was awarded a medal, it might have been The Territorial Force War Medal, 1914-1920. To qualify "the soldier must have completed four years or more service prior to 4 August 1914, and if not still serving must have rejoined by 30 September 1914; they must have agreed to serve overseas by the same date; they must have served overseas at some point up to and including 11 November 1918; and they must not have otherwise qualified for a 1914 or 1914-15 Star."
