Prescriptions are only free or reduced price here in BC if you have a low enough income. They are also free if you are in hospital OR attending the Cancer Agency and getting drugs through them

We're not at all wealthy, but the provincial plan would only kick in for us if we spent $5,000 on prescriptions.

We do have an Extended Health Plan that we pay for every month, and that has a $1,000 deductible.

So, until that kicks in, we (usually only me) have to pay full price for all prescriptions ...... it usually begins to kick in about late April or May. Then it pays the full cost of some, between 75 and 90% for others, and not at all for some ............ I've never been able to figure out the system. :-S

When it comes time to do our income tax returns, we can then submit receipts for everything we have paid for prescriptions, glasses, physiotherapy, chiropody, etc. If the total is more than 3% of the after-tax income of the lowest earner in the family (me!), then we get a refund from the Federal Government.

Some people really do have to work out whether they can afford food or medications :-(

I pay 10% of the retail price. I'm happy with that

That date could be far more sinister!

I worry about bags for life. Do they kill you if you do wear it out?

I pay 50c per item which equates to 35p. Each prescription lasts 2 months so I pay £1.40 per prescription and £2.00 to see the doctor so £20.40 per year. :-)

I'll pay the $6.10 and stay in Oz :-D

There's an expiry date on the card, 30 June 2017....... I'm wondering if I'll automatically get a new one or if I have to go through the rigmarole again. :-(

I used mine at the pharmacy this morning, first time ever.

My medications usually cost about $95 every month :-(

Today, for three prescriptions, I paid $18.30!

:-D
