At least you tried, Maggie

I'm afraid Doris is dead. I didn't think she would survive, her rear end is damaged,
I just looked at ways of preserving them - starting from killing them!! .
:-(
I think I'll keep it in a dark place until the weekend, and, if the weather's nice, preserve it in resin. I have a dead scorpion to put in the stuff too.
I did kill the scorpion - it was him or me - when I was in Portugal but it has no colour to try to retain and has been in a box for 3 years.
Still, Doris was way out of her comfort zone.

I have them in my garden even though it is 2 years since i had the pond filled in and there is no water... maybe if you put it inside a shrub it might find some insects, that is where i see them now in the big shrub that used to overhang the pond.

The dragonfly is still alive! I've left it some cat food. Not exactly the insects/bees etc that it eats, but better than nothing!

I don't think it will, but at least it's got a chance.
It's been pretty hot here today, and it was taking water off the kitchen towel like there was no tomorrow!!
I'm trying to work out where the nearest acidic stream may be.

I just found a dragonfly on my kitchen floor.
Not just any old dragonfly, but a Golden Ringed Dragonfly - it's huge - well 4 inches.
It's a bit tatty, and 'past it's best', which could explain how it was brought in - by Betty the cat.
It's now recovering on the bin lid, on a damp piece of kitchen towel, under half a flower pot (to stop the birds getting it).
But - they live on acidic streams - and it's chalk land around here :-S
Well, all the books say it's chalk around here, it's on chalkland and the garden has white stuff in it, known as 'chalk' but I'm sure someone will know better.
