we've had about 6 mm more since I last posted on here ................. ie, an almost bone-dry August

BUT we are supposed to be getting HEAVY rain starting early tomorrow morning, with rain or showers through the weekend to at least next Monday

that should help with our drought restrictions, if it actually does rain

SylviaInCanada

SylviaInCanada Report 26 Jul 2015 16:52

We apparently got about 7 mm of rain on Friday ......... and it is raining again today :-D

It began in the early hours of this morning, and we are now having what the forecaster on the radio called "heavy showers" :-S

SylviaInCanada

SylviaInCanada Report 25 Jul 2015 01:28

it's stopped raining here .............. but it is forecast to be cool with showers all weekend

I wasn't planning on going anywhere that can't be put off until another day :-)

Been raining steadily for hours now, here in Norwich. Such a shame, there is a Country Fayre in a local park that I wanted to visit today or tomorrow. Preparations must have been difficult for the organisers and the grassy areas will be a bit boggy especially when visitors walk over them. Hope it's a bit drier later on.

My sister has been camping with the DofE since Wednesday - that means packing the tents and moving every morning :-D

Not sure what the weather is like where she is - the Lake district, but for me, work hasn't seemed so bad this week - at least I'm not camping!! :-D :-D :-D :-D

SylviaInCanada Report 24 Jul 2015 21:25

those idiots are throwing cigarettes around down here

stupid gits!

There was a fire in the woods above Wreck Beach last night, thought to be "human caused" :-(

for the uninitiated ............ that's a "clothing-optional" beach :-D

RockyMountainShy

RockyMountainShy Report 24 Jul 2015 20:57

We're doomed if it has to climb those mountains :-| they are just too high for the poor little rainclouds to climb and they dump all over you Sylvia!!!!

GRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRR :-D

Flowers dead - check
grass brown - check
forest fires - check
idiots who start fires - check

even if you don't believe want people are saying,, you can see for yourself that things are dry and it is not a good idea to throw cigarettes or matches, on the brown grass and the sound of planes flying round and round is not westjet or Air Canada, etc it is fire bombers trying to control the fires.

STILL NOT RAINING :-P

Been pouring here all day too, though it has just stopped. And it is quite chilly. Forecast for the weekend is pretty soggy too. And guess what? On Sunday the forecast is for yet more rain and I'm going to be sitting in a field nearly all day watching grandson shoot arrows!

such joy!!!!!

:-D :-D :-D

Well, OK ............... they are officially classed as heavy showers BUT the temperature is down to around 16C, and the sound of the rain on the roof and on the leaves is just fantastic!!!!

Hopefully these "heavy showers" will drop several mms over today and the rest of the weekend. We do so desperately need it after such drought conditions.

PLUS ..................

OH left this morning for a week of meetings, and I will not have to water the kiwi fruit, the strawberries, etc, with buckets of water, which is all we can now use under Stage 3 watering restrictions. :-D :-D

He gave up on the veggie garden about 2 weeks ago, just couldn't give it the amount of water needed, and the grass has been brown and dry since late May. It will soon become green again, it is amazing how fast it recovers after drought :-D

Hopefully, this rain will also help the control of the wild fires burning all over BC, Alberta and Saskatchewan (as the system moves eastward) ........ that is also desperately needed.
