here's the berry thingie..... weights are approximate, and use whatever berries & spice you like :-)

BERRY DESSERT

500 gr strawberries
230 gr raspberries
120 gr blueberries
1½ Tablespoons caster sugar
1 orange, juice of, and zested
200 gr Greek yogurt
200 gr creme fraiche
1½ Tablespoons soft brown sugar
1 teaspoon ground cinnamon

Place all berries in an ovenproof dish, sprinkle over 1 tbsp caster sugar and the zest and juice of the orange. Mix together the yoghurt, creme fraiche and remaining caster sugar and spread over the fruit and leave in fridge for 2 hours.

Sprinkle the soft brown sugar over the top and dust with the cinnamon, place under a hot grill until the sugar melts. Serve immediately.

Sharron ~ I had that recipe years ago, I think there was also a big bar of chocolate (melted). Terrible waste of good whisky imho :-D

I'm not a great fan of Bailey's, to me it tastes like sour milk :-(

The bottle I have I won in a raffle last Christmas..... and opened it last night!

:-D

That is another use for condensed milk.

Take the tin right off the tin.

Tip contents in bowl.
Fill tin with double cream and into bowl.
Same with whiskey.
Add a teaspoon of instant coffee (more if you want it coffee flavoured\0.

Give it a whisk.

Voila, Baileys.

I've just had dessert :-D

A small bowl of the ice-cream with a dribble of Bailey's coffee (same as Irish cream with a hint of coffee).

I think it would be really lovely with a warm fruit thingie I make.

:-D :-D

I'll try that, sounds delicious.

I bought an ice-cream maker some years ago, couldn't get it to work, eventually took it back to the store & got a refund. They told me it was probably my freezer that was the problem....... not likely, it was brand new!

That is quite similar to kulfi which I have made by simmering whole milk until it half the volume.

Sounds good and I'd like to try it. The problem is the availability of double cream here in Canada. I understand that the butterfat content is 48% whereas here the closest we have is whipping cream at 35%.

Has anybody made this? I found a recipe in a freebie magazine in Devon recently. It used:-

whole standard can of condensed milk
600 ml double cream
1 tsp vanilla paste

Just beat the whole lot together in the mixer for a few minutes until resembling clotted cream. My OH not a huge vanilla fan and I didn't want to splash out on the vanilla paste, I just used 1/4 tsp good vanilla essence (another recipe used 1 tsp).

Turned out really well and unbelievably easy to make. Just freeze the whole lot in a lidded container for one and a half hours.

Recipe said to stir in whatever you fancy at this stage, chopped strawbs, chocolate sauce etc. and pop back in freezer a while.

It is really rich compared to a recipe using an ice-cream maker but it turns out really smooth and creamy, no ice crystals.

There was a similar recipe on BBC Good Food Recipes but it only used half a can of condensed milk. I'm going to try that one as it won't be so rich tasting. :-D
