the trouble with plastic is, that occasionally a repair to a copper pipe is done with the quick fix stuff, and therefore any earthing that the copper pipe MAY have provided is now lost............there was a wall kettle that was moved........the "plumber" connected the gap in the copper pipe with plastic, and no, he DIDNT install an earth bond between........

It was the old gate valve that the cowboys who put in the hot water system should have removed that was leaking.

Plumbing has moved on to plastic for both hot and cold water, CHS ... which doesn't have leaks. OTOH housing associations seem to be wedded to old fashioned copper which is very leak prone if not installed properly.

You remember how I was left without hot water for three months?

I have called in the housing association plumber to fix a leaking stopcock in the cupboard and it turns out to be a major leak running down the wall from under the bath which may have to be taken out.

Does it never bloody well end?!

No,no, it's not under the bath. It is behind the boxed in part. The part that was iled and decorated in January when the new kitchen went in!
