Have you visited Wilmslow Library? They appear to have a local studies section.

If you can't visit in person the Staff can probably research on your behalf. They may make a charge.

Ask if they have copies of historical maps - you might be able to work out when the houses were built. They may even know why!
Bearing in mind that the houses may have been numbered, local trade/residential directories might tell you who lived there and when

Hi. Does anyone know anything of the past history of this terraced cottage in Wilmslow. I think it was probably built for workers at one of the mills in the area but the normal area records are not really providing any relevant information. Thanks.
