Leave extra time.....loads of it! And remember to stop off for a loo break before you get too near Operation Stack.

Good luck - you might need it!

An 'in-law' is driving back to France from Northumberland in about 2 weeks. Although he'd normal go via Dover, he's booked to sale out of Portsmouth. However his time is flexible and he can suit himself. Its a bit different if some of your party had to book annual leave back in January.

We were booked on the ferry with MyFerryLink. A few weeks ago they sold their two ferries, and gave us the option of a refund or travel via the tunnel at the same cost. We have chosen the tunnel. The other two carfuls in our party have chosen to go with P&O. There is no other viable option from here. The Newhaven-Dieppe is not really an option, too long and costly. Oh well, fingers crossed...

To be fair, if Bob is travelling overland, tourists are given priority on the ferries/Eurotunnel on the Dover-Calais route.

Expect delays both en-route and at the terminals.

I have lost a couple of pounds, but have had quite a hectic social whirl lately. And next week we are off to France for ten days.

O.h.'s mother died of cirrhosis(sp?) of the liver but apparently wasn't a drinker. Always a bit of mystery about her health problems, she died quite young, in her 40s but altho o.h. was about 19 he was never told much.

Hope you haven't over indulged this evening, Bob

Denburybob Report 28 Jul 2015 20:16

...a few months ago I posted about alcohol consumption, and a bit of trouble with my liver. I went back to the doctor yesterday for the results of my latest blood tests. I must be doing something right, as my liver is back to normal, cholesterol the lowest it has ever been, with "good" LDL higher than "bad" HDL, and blood sugar at 5.4. I am now going to the pub to celebrate.
