My only concern in the summer is "how long will it be off?" Thus "how long before the freezer temperature rises?" Answer - I don't know.
Woodburner in the kitchen is often used to heat a big pot of water. (Not in the summer!) And I have fried egg&bacon on it.
And a campers single burner gas stove is kept as the ultimate solution.
Have a wind-up led torch. 30 seconds winding provides enough light to find the other torches & candles.

Why is it timed to go off just as it´s getting dark & you need the lights.
Can pretty much manage without the other things, although the house is all electric, so it´s inconvenient, but I get sick of groping around for the torches/candles.
Why are they never where I left them?

If that was the answer it would be great ! Too many tourists they say ! we also lose water pressure each day, BULLSHIT I say this is a tourist area we paid prices for it ( well most did ) and we pay taxes for the area we live in.
