Errol, that is insinuating that ?Wend doesn't make time to see her family. You don't know that. I don't see mine as much as I like, mainly because they all live from 2 to 4 hours drive away. Yes we make the 'effot' to see them as much as we can, however, most of them don't either make the effort or don't have the time in their busy lives to make the effort to see us. So facebook is great for keeping in touch with them all.

Facebook send you recommendations of people they think that you might want to be friends with. These people might be friends of friends. Or they might be people who live nearby or who have similar interests. ;-)

I am on FB under a pseudonym as I was very reluctant to join at first, so my friend requests are very few and far between. I have kept my contacts to under 60 at the moment.

As with much else, if it is used sensibly and carefully, FB is great. :-D

I love Facebook. It's wonderful to be able to keep in touch with what's going on with the young people I have taught over the years.

It does sound like you've been hacked, Ann.

I have Faceache, but there's very little on there about me.

I joined years ago, when my niece went overseas. I'm now following a nephew on his travels in the US.

Most of the younger ones in our family have Facebook, and I'm often surprised/shocked at the information they post....... including photographs of their children, for all the world to see.

Friend requests? If I don't know them, I ignore them.

Wend - or one could do what I do and make the time to see them and spend time with them and actually talk face to face - had a great day out with my daughter last week.

As an extended family, we plan holidays on FB (through personal messaging) Much easier than sending e-mails.

Though, when we went camping, as my sister had spoken to me about it - she didn't include me in the messaging :-P
Had to get one of my daughters to 'include' me :-S

Don't go AnnC - I enjoy your occasional input to FB. Always makes me laugh :-D

And Errol, it's a great way of keeping in touch with your offspring when you rarely see them. ;-) :-D

AnnCardiff I would strongly recommend your change your FB password and make it a "strong" one. Sounds as if you've been hacked.

I would also recommend you check your security settings on FB and ensure only "FB Friends" can view your "Wall"

I've been on FB for years and never had a problem. You can of course unfriend any new friends you don't know

I like FB as use it to keep in touch with ex mil mates from mid 1950s onwards and family of course

AnninGlos Report 31 Jul 2015 22:01

In Ann' s case it is not friends requests she is getting but acceptances I think. I know because I had a friend request supposedly from Ann and I was happy to accept. So it seems either facebook or someone is sending out requests in her name. It looked genuine.

I don't use facebook myself ... but an awful lot of people who do (and use Instagram and other silly things) seem to think it's okay to use MY email address when they sign up there!

then I get friends requests from Africa and Thailand ... and that's when I figure out somebody else has used one of my email addresses ... and I go to their account, say I've forgotten my password, get an email for setting a new one, and go back to their account and change the password :-D

usually to something rude ... but then if they try to get into their account and don't have the password, the new password request will just get sent to me anyhow.

I can't believe anywhere that lets people use an email address to sign up without requiring that they confirm it by sending them an email with a link they have to click ...
