Many adjectives can be applied to flowers - please use your own .
My vote for the prettiest is the water lily. Yours? (perhaps with a reason)

Happy days

Happiness held is the seed. Happiness shared is the flower.

Another vote for pansies, we have some small ones that look like a litter of kittens looking over the pot. :-D

For me it has to be Longi Lilies, pure and modest ;-)

For the perfume it is the Sweet Pea, Lily of the Valley
and Lilacs, love them all.
I could go on about other favourites :-)

The paeony , cistus and poppy are the main flowers in my garden.
Not only do they have lovely delicate paper-like petals, they can survive my not watering them :-D

I don't think I can pick out a favourite, I love all flowers, but especially like the scent of Sweet Peas and freesias.

Saxifraga × urbium
It will grow well in neglected or unfavourable urban spaces where few other flowers flourish, and is a common garden escapee.

They self plant themselves all around our French garden mixed with astilbes. I like plants that just get on with life no fuss.

Good choices Ann. SW's are so easy to grow and seed so well. Got 4 different mock orange's GP. Clip them as you like but please yourself. They grow and never ask for anything.

Happy days

It must be scented. Wild flowers, violets, primroses, bluebells etc., and for garden plants, cottage style. Reminders of childhood.!!

I love all of the flowers mentioned. We have Canterbury Bells in our garden, they are so blue with a beautiful shape bell. It would be difficult for me to choose a favourite but I do like to see White Lilies in a tall vase.

magpie

magpie Report 5 Aug 2015 15:01

For scent, for me is the Buddleia (spelling?) and Mockorange. Delphiniums are a favourite too.

My parents had a huge garden which they both looked after.

Mum loved flowers and shrubs while Dad said flowers were a waste of good soil. Dahlias were the exception and he grew beautiful ones in his vegetable and fruit patch.

Dahlias are one of my favourites as they remind me of him.

Another favourite are sweet peas. Mum loved their fragrance and we still have some in the allotment grown from seed from the last ones Dad planted.
