'Minding our own business' has not been practiced very well historically by the UK.

But there have been some very valid reasons to occasionally poke our noses into other's business - with/without their permission.

Another comment highlighted the futility of 'sending illegals' back home simply because the mother country regularly refuses to accept such repatriations.

Somebody on television this morning said that the only way to deal with the illegal immigrant situation is to deal with the regimes and economies that they are fleeing from.

It does occur to me that, had several European countries not thought they had an obligation to interfere with the running of those countries a couple of hundred years ago, we might not have all these people wanting to come here now.
