I had to go to a grammar school. This means I agonize over posting anything I have not proof read and corrected.

It certainly doesn't indicate a meticulous character I can tell you and I don't talk like this but it was beaten into me.

There is not much point in antagonizing people on here. You don't know them.

My spelling is terrible online,i type quickly and rarely proof read before pressing send lol, i also use text type a lot,

i dont care how people spell as long as i get the jist of what there trying to say,

id much rather someone spell incorrectly and have rubbish grammer, than to go out of there way to be mean and nasty for no reason.

You are clever AnnCardiff - I think some thesaurus bones were found awhile back.

The apostrophe "thing" annoys me too, Gwynne.

It's hard not to notice incorrect use when you taught GCE English but it's rude to mention it, unless the incorrect use can cause confusion to a reader.

I do reserve the right to throw burning torches at people who misuse apostrophes, though. :-D

Rose - you are so right and I could not have said it better.

The really clever people use words to enrich and inform, not as a weapon to batter others with their intellectual capacity. I use the language as best I can, for my own satisfaction :-)
