GinN Report 7 Aug 2015 17:38

Joy - I was born on Tyneside - Gateshead, and didn't know about my East Anglian ancestors until I delved into my family tree - thought I was just a Geordie.. Yet I've lived down here for more than 30 years, and pretty near to where some of them were from - spooky :-D :-D

Edit - I live in Norfolk. Hence my board name - short for Geordie in Norfolk.

I now live at Durham but was born at Liverpool.

Always knew I had Norfolk ancestors but only found my Essex and London ones when my cousin gave me a copy of my grandfather's birth certificate. However, always knew that the surname I (and my father) grew up with was not our real surname.

Otherwise I am a mongrel, with one Irish 2 x great grandfather, Scottish Borders' ancestors and Cheshire ones thrown into the mix.

But with a Geordie accent now (and a little bit of Oz thrown in as I spent ten years there).

I am proud to be an honorary Geordie.

GinN, I've learned something today. I never knew that your board-name was Norfolk for Geordie. Do you know where that's come from?

Sorry, I've not joined in the garden conversation but I shall do so.
