The cause of death will be on the death certificate.

I had concerns about a few direct ancestors who died young re possible inherited problems for my children so sent for the death certs.

Results were - malnutrition, TB, mining accident and heart failure due to rheumatic fever.

Details of why they died given and who was with 3 of them as they died.

These were all prior to the 1940s so I had no problems ordering them, I don't know if there's ordering restrictions on more recent certs though. :-)

EDIT sorry should have said £9.25 for a cert. from

:-) :-)

The death cert is definitely the best way to go but have you thought of local newspapers just in case there is an obituary which may mention why they died.
