Today I am going to visit my Aunt. She is seventy-six and in the early stages of Alzheimers. It's heartbreaking to see my dear sweet Aunt begin to change, not only in her memory but also in her appearance, and her home living conditions. Some days she seems fine and others its varying states of confusion.

My cousin is staying with her almost all of the time, but her own health is not good, she has Myasthenia Gravis which is a progressive condition, and diabetes. It's a worry as to what the future holds for both of them. I am now the oldest "girl" cousin in the family, and they are all looking to me for some sort of guidance, and I really don't have a clue. Its not what I want, its what is best for both of them. She has always been adamant that she would never go into a residential home, but I don't know how long my cousin will be able to cope. How very cruel life can be sometimes.
