well, newspapers no longer have copy editors, or even editors in the old sense ......

they rely on Spell Check ............ which only looks at whether the word is spelled correctly not whether it is the correct word.

You'll find the same thing in some books.

Or their spelling - an article locally, talking about horses, referred to them having their 'bridals removed' :-0 :-S

There was a story in the news yesterday about a chimpanzee that was given a scan after a lump was found under his chin. It turned out to be a swelling caused by infection.

I just found this version of the story http://www.walesonline.co.uk/news/wales-news/chimpanzee-given-cat-scan-welsh-9847322

The reporter refers to the chimpanzee as a monkey. It seems reporters today don't even know the difference between monkeys and chimpanzees. :-0

Yet another case of the media not getting their 'facts' right. :-P
