We once had a big red Irish setter as daft as a brush but great fun. When he was 13 he decided suddenly to rush across a quiet country road in France just when a van came around the corner and that was that. After 20 years OH still misses him.

Hopefully when I retire we will have cats, dogs, chickens etc who can keep the swallows owls and such company. Until then traveling back and forth to the UK dogs are not really on. Once a year for holidays maybe but not frequent trips.

I had a peek into Gumtree. Dear oh dear what a mixture of dodgy dealers and sad stories. There is no way I'd give up my cat for the convenience of a landlord. A few pages of that was more than enough.

Gumtree even has listings of guitars in the same vein, everything from dodgy propositions to fine instruments being sold by owners in financial pain probably to pay landlords. A fine instrument is not quite a pet but getting that way.

So I guess it will be off to Wales again then.
