Thanks for letting me know that Joan

I have never been Standard as I joined to do my tree, and after a short while of Pay-as-you-go I realised it would be more cost effective to go Platinum.

There's not a lot more I can do on a regular basis, and what with being distracted by the boards, I thought I would make sense to just pay standard.

However I don't know at that price if it would be worth it! :-S:-(

Edited
I've just realised you were talking about £19.95 a year. I'm used to paying 6 monthly.
So it would still l be quite a saving for me if I am wasting my Platinum subs by not using it fully. :-)
I would try haggling first however! :-D :-D :-D

Susan,

Looking at the amount you were charged, I think you have probably got a PLATINUM Subscription.

I'm pretty sure that the others that have posted are talking about their STANDARD Subscription.

Copied & Pasted from GR's "Help Centre - Frequently Asked Questions"

Platinum Membership

This is available for either one month or a year (£19.95/£79.95).

Features include:

• Contact other members from your search results

• Accept invitations to view their trees

• Post photos and scanned images such as certificates to your Keepsafe, and attach these images to relations in your tree

• Add messages to the message boards

You also get access to these records

• Indexed birth, marriage and death records from 1837 - 2006

• England and Wales Census records from 1841 to 1911

• Scottish census from 1841 to 1901

• Overseas birth, marriage and death records

• UK Electoral Roll information for 2002-2013

Standard Membership

This is available for either £4.95 per month or you can buy a six monthly package at £14.95 or an annual package at £19.95 .

You’ll enjoy the same features as the Platinum package, but you only get access to the non-indexed births, marriage and death records. You can buy credits to access the rest of the records if you want to take your search further.

The others seem to be having a discount for being long term members.

I am considering downgrading from Platinum to Standard eventually. I wonder how much they'll charge me? :-S :-S :-S

I think the membership fees will be going up a little every year from now on :-(

My recent renewal fee was exactly per Joan's comment.
This year definitely was my last renewal.
It seems reasonable GR will not improve its service to (paying) members
What once was a very happy site ... sadly is so no longer.
R.I.P.

Mine was £7.96 last year, Joy, I think you'll go up a pound when you renew.

I can't find the thread where people were asking how much it was costing to renew.

I just got notification that I've paid £8.96.

Strange figure but there you are.
