One thing about private schools, which we've noticed over here as well as back when we lived in England ...............

Most of the parents are much more supportive of the teachers and much more likely to get on their kids backs if they misbehave or don't work .

There's something about paying out the money !

On the other hand ........... a lot of private school kids are just as objectionable when away from their parents as they ever were

says she from experience with private schools kids on a ski holiday many many moons ago, coupled with very recent experiences here :-)

I enjoy seeing how schools from various parts
of the country tackle the problems in their schools
and the results of hard work put in by teachers and
pupils alike.

I'm intrigued too, Emma, especially as the Government slakes off state school teachers (with their 30+ pupils who have to be there) and praises private school teachers, with their 12 - 16 pupils per class - who, quite frankly have the fact that their parents pay as an incentive, and can be easily removed.

I'm interested to see how this programme turns out
Maggie.
Nowhere near the same as you say.

My sister works at a youth club attached to a school. They are 'twinned' with Winchester College.
She was intrigued about how they'd cope when they said some of the College staff would teach in the school - average of 30 pupils per class in the Academy, 12 in the College.
However, she was very disappointed when the College teachers asked for volunteers (ie those wanting to learn), from the top sets, who would be prepared to be taught on a Saturday!!!
Not quite the same as teaching 30 pupils who had no choice :-|
