That's usually the case, Fly :-( - they may have once been there. I hopefully went to one graveyard in Essex, and the headstones were all sunken into the ground, with only the tips showing :-0 ;-)

The only way is to visit the archives and look at the parish records. Some are on line, but never the ones you want :-(

GinN did you see I cleaned off a very old grave last Monday. I was in the oldest part where a lot of the headstones are unreadable and some fallen down ,,, so sad...... Fanny thanked me for her wash and brush up and got her clear of weeds and leaves :-) :-)

GiN if you google the FHS of the area you are looking at you can look through what is for sale the booklets cost around £3 just look for a plan of the church yard you are interested in :-)

J comes with me on my forays and cleans likely ones with a scrubbing brush and squirty cleaner :-D :-D - he's put a little kit together specially in a bucket :-D ;-)
