Thanks, Scozz

The limo owners do tours of the Margaret River Wine Region and also trips to the Perth airports, so why not to Kalbarri.

We have changed the booking to the following week :-D

I also forgot to mention that as the 5th September is our Anniversary, 6th September is Fathers' Day in Oz: I wonder what I will receive as a present ;-) ;-) :-D

Why not take the limo to Kalbarri? :-D

Congratulations on 45 years of wedded bliss <3

I think our 2 friends might be some of the experts called in to do those surveys :-D

................

or at least, they were in their slightly younger days :-D

:-D :-D :-D

If people here want to delay or even try to cancel major projects which may require destruction of bushland, the finding of an orchid, or 'endangered' wildlife, is enough to force the proponents to carry out a major environmental survey :-D :-D :-D

I've just looked at some of the photos, and we arrived in Perth about the 15/16 September, so I think we were up around Coomallo Nature Reserve on the way to Jurien 3 or 4 days later.

We left on The Ghan on the 23rd, and had a bus tour of Kalgoorlie at midnight :-D

oops not The Ghan, that was later .......

........ the Indian Pacific

Our friends were expert at finding orchids :-D

I have some fantastic photos of them, and of course of the Everlastings.

Sylvia, we lived in Leonora for three years and the displays of Everlastings were spectacular. Spring in WA is a fantastic season

Allan .....

we had a wonderful trip to WA in September years ago ............... our friends are wildlife biologists, trained as zoologists but they know all the WA flowers. They took us towards Jurien, not quite as far north as Kalbarri.

The flowers were fantastic!

Jem, the limousine was a fantastic touch, although we did nearly decide to drive ourselves to the Restaurant, something that my daughter was dreading as a possibility :-D :-D

Lol, all

Looking forward to the holiday, but not the nine hour drive to get there.

We are rather limited as to date options as the school holidays are at the end of September so we want to avoid that period.

Also, Kalbarri can become quite hot as summer approaches.

Another bonus is that it will be the wildflower season in that part of WA during the period we hope to go :-D

Yes AnnC, we are very lucky :-D

Funnily enough, our son moved out of home at a relatively early age (17, I think) but he has always kept in touch and when his marriage broke down he moved back in with us for a couple of years.

Even though he has been backwards and forwards, he has never moved far away. He now lives about a ten minute drive away and always keeps in touch :-)

It started last night (29th) :-D

OH and I will be celebrating our 45th Wedding Anniversary next week-end.

We were just going to the local Chinese for a quite meal with our two children.

Turns out that my son is working on the day, so they booked a place in Bunbury. My son was going to pick us up so that we had no hassles with drink driving.

At the appointed time we received a phone call from our daughter asking if we were ready.

Most unusual as she lives in completely the opposite direction!

Five minute later the door bell rings. I opened the door (OH had gone for one of her usual last minute piddles :-D) only to be greeted by one of the biggest stretch limousines that I have ever seen! Pretty lights on the outside and a small bar on the inside lit by colour changing LEDs.

We were both flabbergasted!

So off we set in style for our meal.

During the course of the meal our daughter gave us an anniversary card which we opened and there inside was the announcement that she and our son had paid for a six-night holiday in Kalbarri, which is about 800 kms noth of where we live.

Looked at the dates. Faecal material! The holiday dates included 12th September which is a major day for an organisation of which I am a member. This involves the change-over of officers an as I am in charge of the ceremonial parts I can't change at this late stage.

Felt really guilty until daughter advised me to read the fine print. We have until September 5th to change the dates.

Ironically that is the actual date of our anniversary, and if our son hadn't been working that is when we would have had our meal; it would have been too late to change the holiday! :-0

So, in the next few weeks we have son's birthday on September 3rd

Due to the change of date of the meal OH and myself are going down to Margaret River on 4th/5th September.

I have my official function on 12th September and then hopefully, very soon after that, our six days up in Kalbarri, a place I last visited back in 1982 very soon after our arrival in WA.

I suspect that I will need a period of Recuperation to get over it all.

Oh yes, I'm still trying to get the house redecorated, and a new kitchen fitted now that we have decided not to sell :-D :-D
