You can indeed get worms in cans.

Fishermen used to get live bait including worms in can's.
But if you are talking about food how about Thai BBQ Canned Bamboo Worms.

They taste delicious (tongue in cheek).

Heard of my old school dinner song?

Worms for breakfast, dinner and tea.
Nobody knows what they mean to me
..... and so on.

Enough to put you off spaghetti.

I seen these in Yorkshire but a fair step from Middlesbro'

Starting from the south coast though any of the estuary mud from Keyhaven to Shoreham is a great place for digging out yr own worms for free. Caution - ragworms bite. Highly nutricious.

Have you tried knocking a ragworm on the head and eating it, Rollo?

I'm teasing, of course as it's not something I could ever do ... The big ones slip and the little ones slide.

I think Sharron might be referring to the proverbial," can of worms"

but I could be wrong

cans of worms and hornets nests in the middle east might be relevant.........
