Whilst I don't fancy coming face to face with one their reintroduction has made a huge difference to the ecology of Yellowstone.
It's on my wish list to visit

We did go to Yellowstone and loved it, but didn't see any wolves. But we did watch a TV programme on the wolves some time back and found it fascinating

the wolves were captured in the Rocky Mountains in Canada, and released in Yellowstone.

Local ranchers hate them, and many wolves have been killed when they stray outside the Park boundaries.

On the other hand, wolves have killed more elk than was anticipated, so the elk population in Yellowstone has been affected ................ both as a result of numbers killed and because they have changed their behaviour due to the predation.


I have no sympathy for the ranchers and deplore their killing of wolves, but I do wonder about the effect on the elk population.
