How nice of you KIm. Nice to make your acquaintance.

I am happy to be called Joy Louise as I was called that for quite a few of my younger years. Not so much now I'm m sad to say - and often much worse, but I have a thick skin.

Sorry I have taken so long to reply but unexpected and very welcome visitors arrived.

I'm with you, Joy BA, I just love accents. I wish I could speak in a variety of them as my children can.

JoyLouise I have the same trouble when I am using my phone
But when stray texts me
I have to ring her to make head or tail of her message

I think most accents are just dandy in my book :-D :-D

New year,

Newby, See above - my OH's iPad keeps correcting me.

My abject apologies (have you heard that fro call centre staff?) as I should check everything before I press 'Submit' - my mistake, sorry.

See, I can't help being nice. It comes as second nature. Ask my OH, ha ha :-D

There are very different accents throughout Yorkshire

In my mind all of them are great

North East accents in my mind, are lovely. I wouldn't be so rude as to say which accents I couldn't stand

I get plagued by 'phone calls from scouse call centres by people who think they are being businesslike and do not realise that they come across as the north west equivalent of Delboy.

When will these companies realise?

Newby Report 11 Sep 2015 18:56

Can't understand a word they say but it always sounds like they are being nice.. ;-)

I seem to remember reading an article a couple of years ago.

Call centres were favoured to be based in Yorkshire due to the friendly manner and accent

eRRolSheep Report 11 Sep 2015 18:55

Very true - so I could be an honorary Yorkshireman.

I don't understand why it is not ok for DC to make a 'joke' about Yorkshire people, but ok to suggest that men from Yorkshire have more grit or that people from Yorkshire are somehow nicer or more blessed than southerners? :-S
