It's very calm on this thread now that everyone - but me - has vanished to the land of nod.

Ah well, I will just carry on with my list of homophones. Interesting stuff - but I suspect a nightmare for foreign students intending to learn our wonderful English language.

Given the lamentations from the corporate and state sector deploring the UK's poor record in acquiring foreign languages, it would be interesting to hear how our new Labour Leader, when he become PM, would be capable of conducting political business at any level in languages other than English.
