Then, sometimes, there is the Open Walking Round a Field in a Group and Stopping for a Bit.

I guess the consensus is that there's too much footy/soccer.

In our house it's cricket and even cricket scores on text.

My OH has even indoctrinated younger grandson so in his house it's a mixture of footy and cricket.

exactly Brian

I keep thinking I have a few months of respite from the whistle, and it turns out to be about 3 weeks

I'm not taking your point on your last comment ... or perhaps just preferring not to

are all commercial sports these days not internationalised?

Russian and Finnish ice hockey players are everywhere! and baseball teams in the USA are full of Latin Americans ...

Whatever happened to the "Close Season".
I seem to recall that footie ran from September to March and Tennis etc. from April to August.
Now footie seems to run late August to May and then there's World Cup, Champion's League, and all sorts of other internationals during the summer plus all the hype over obscene transfer fees etc..
Not to mention the fact that most of the players, even in the "England" team and the Managers seem to be drawn from rejects to the United Nations council.

Even worse there was three and a half hours of the great north run plus another hour of so called 'highlights' and to top that another three hours of a golf tournament that no one is in the slightly interested in.

Ah well, we can but look forward to the international haggis, black pudding and sausage throwing spectacular from Bucharest next week, which I gather has been given two and a half hours prime time by the beeb.

Sharron

Sharron Report 13 Sep 2015 16:42

He does sit quietly watching things about Hitler with me, because I have the doofer. He comes to the odd lecture with me, he visits mediaeval towns that have no interest to him at all. He listens to me going on about things no sensible person would be interested in and he will be coming to look for pigs.

I really must let him have the doofer sometimes.

JoyBoroAngel

JoyBoroAngel Report 13 Sep 2015 16:30

The woman should ALWAYS take control of the doofers :-D :-D

My Butler never ventures into the lounge
Thats how he get the name the Butler

Ladies....... try this

Ask your OH to go shopping with you (not grocery shopping, but a little bit of "fun" shopping)

If he says no, because there's a "big game" on...

Go shopping by yourself

and take the TV remote with you.

JoyBoroAngel

JoyBoroAngel Report 13 Sep 2015 16:02

Sharron

Sharron Report 13 Sep 2015 15:59

Sadly, we have more than one doofer.

I do let him loose with a doofer sometimes but not usually when there is football on.

JoyBoroAngel

JoyBoroAngel Report 13 Sep 2015 15:52

MEMO TO SHARON

take the doofer in the bathroom while you bathe ;-) ;-)

Sharron

Sharron Report 13 Sep 2015 15:51

I got the timing wrong.

He had the doofer while I was in the bath. Now I understand why he brought me a cup of tea.

it's what they do when they score -= they run around the field like madmen indicating - "how good am I" when all they've done is kick a ball in a goal - and for which they are paid an obscene amount of money

rugby players don't do that - and rugby players are not wimps who keel over at the slightest knock - or no knock at all - they should have a BAFTA section for acting on the football field
