Not bad here today - blue-ish sky and no rain.

OH stood at the window wondering what to do at around 9.30 as he and friends usually go for a long walk on,Sunday mornings. Did not wait for him to decide but went with friends for coffee and had a nice 40 minutes or so.

For anyone who fancies fish and chips and needs a gluten-free diet because of Coeliac disease I can recommend 149 at Barnard Castle. I think the street is called Newgate - it's on the RH side after you turn right from Staindrop road - before the road veers left at the church. Car parking on street or next to Morrison's.

We called in yesterday and OH, who misses simply going in for fish and chips, said they were delicious. The pensioners' special is £6.30 and is fish, chips, peas and bread and butter with either tea or coffee. There's enough on the plate.

Spent two hours this lovely warm morning with a sizable bunch of other locals carrying-out the organised annual clean-up of our beautiful beach.

Several commented at the lack of rubbish strewn around compared to this time last year. We must be visited by a better class of summer tourists.

Little did they know that every day - well, most days - I take my gentle ramble along the beach, tongs & bin-bag in hand picking-up anything - and I mean anything that shouldn‘t be there. You'd be surprised at the variety of items discarded.
