I have some crab apples and a recipe for spiced/pickled crab apples.

They look gorgeous and I am keen to make some but I have no idea when we would eat them or what with.

Suggestions on a post card please to..........

If you were a carnivore, then Pork would be the first suggestion.

You'd probably have to taste the finished product and decide if its a sweet, or a savoury condiment.

Have you thought of Crab Apple Jelly? You could add it to apple dishes to give a more intense flavour, or eat on bread/toast

I certainly have thought of crab apple jelly and we are awash with it. I still have some from Fred's foraging days

Having found a whole new source of crab apples, I had a look for something different to make with them and these looked so lovely I thought I would give them a go..

Serve them as a traditional side to meats and poultry, or sandwiches. I think they’d be fantastic on a cheese plate, too.

The Author of that (US) article considers them to be a Savoury.

Apples go with Cheese, so may be?

That is the very site I used.

I know if I like them they won't be served with anything but chugged out of the jar like the pickled onions are.

I would say good with cheese. Or, as you say eaten as you eat pickled onions.

The way I eat pickled onions is not something I would recommend for any civilised person.

Just have a few homemade bits of shortbread, then a large French stick filled with cheese and salad, washed down with a very large coffee with whipped cream on top should do it Sharron. Oops, forgot, a couple of large bags of crisps on the way . . .

Then you can have lunch :-D

Must leave a bit of room for another jar of pickled onions.
