Hi. 'Non conformists' are Christian protestant churches who do not 'conform' to the governance of the Church of England......Methodists, Presbyterians etc. I think Quakers would come under the term too. :-D

Looks like it covers lots quite a few denominations, I thought that Meeting Houses were just for Quakers, maybe they just rented them out for others to use :-)

There are some beautiful meeting houses near me, they all look very welcoming.

I have a Wesleyan listed in non conformist register, and several not stated what denomination. 'Meeting houses' seem to pop up for several denominations incl 'dissenters'.

Hi Sue :-) The reason I asked, is that the baptism took place in a Meeting house, then it says.....denomination, Independent. So I've no idea really what he was>

Not sure about Quakers. Some of my folk were Zion Baptists and they are on the non-conformist lists.

What religion/s would they cover, would they include Quakers does anyone know?
