So - very disconcerting to see him minutes later having to comment on the shocking Saudi news

edit - was one of the best WDYTYR programmes I've ever seen

I also found this the best WDYTYA ever. He seems to be a very nice, decent, sensitive man.
And then his lineage......words fail me

I agree with all of the above but got a bit lost at the pace it went past several generations-was his ancestry to William C through the male line only or a mixture of male and female ? :-S

I think it was through all the reigning Kings going back from Edward 1st. But I have recorded it as I missed the first part so will look more closely when I watch it.

It was fascinating to learn of so much royalty in his tree, which proved the story passed down in his family. Must have been awful to learn of the man who was beheaded, knowing he has probably reported such horrendous deaths more recently.

I was beginning to find WDYTYA becoming a tad boring but I thoroughly enjoyed this episode. I have been a huge admirer of Frank Gardner for many years, and was looking forward to seeing what was in store for him in WDYTYA.

Now, finding he is more English than the Queen puts me in mind to write to her suggesting that a) he gets a knighthood, and b) he is entitled to live in Buck House!!! ;-)
