Afternoon All.

Weather started out fine in pink panther land but after I had been seduced into putting out washing the heavens opened. All hanging out now (!) and wet through.

Busy weekend celebrating our Golden Wedding Anniversary. Family and friends visited over the three days and it was lovely to see everyone.

Never a cross word in 50 years - and if you believe that, you'll believe anything. :-D

Our Lake District stay could have been better. Hotel much over-rated in my opinion. OH has Coeliac disease and was given the wrong scone on arrival so was heaving when he should have been eating his dinner. The next day he was fine. The hotel knocked the cost of his missed dinner off the bill but I wrote when we got back to put something in writing about re-training staff.

The reply I've just received was less than adequate - here's one part: 'As I'm sure you are aware there is a distinct difference in look as the Scone will not rise and by taste which would have been very dry and biscuit like taste.' They also said that I had described the gluten-free scone as the one my husband ate. (Obviously because that was the one he was given.)

I commented to OH that my scone was crumbly. He commented that his was crumbly too. Mine was flatter and I did wonder but it was similar to M & S cheese scone height.

The hotel has 're-trained the person in question.'

I ought to have been a mind-reader obviously. A response from a person whose charm school training failed him, I think.

We would never stay there again even though on the whole the food was good. the attitude in the letter finished us and I feel that I wasted my time writing.

Whew .. this was a longer post than I'd intended. Sorry everyone. The rest of our time in the Lakes was good.

That could have been more serious for your OH Joy :-0 is there no one else you could complain to :-| the letter was not good enough :-0

Awful news Mersey about that poor young police officer in Birkenhead :-( :-(

Ann he was only 34 years old, married with 2 young daughters....so so tragic :-(

Just been watching news about that bus that went off the road killing an elderly lady and a little boy <3 the bus driver is 77 years old :-0 hope they have that wrong :-S

Very sad Mersey..so young. My dad always used to say that he got out of the job not a day too soon and worried constantly about my brother who was in Armoured Response.

Ann he may have passed his fitness test but i think it is wrong :-(
