Shirley, I am absolutely disgusted to read how your husband was discharged from hospital.
But knowing how badly our local hospital has been rated, it doesn't surpise me.
Take care of yourself my love, hugs Mo xxx

I'm so glad your daughter is drafting a complaint - what an appalling affront to his comfort and dignity.

I do hope your care package works well for you and OH <3

Thanks folks

Have had a steady stream of people from different organisations coming in, this morning had a lady from Carers First who has done an assessment she will be sending me an application to get a card done to carry around in my handbag so if I was taken ill then the info of me being a carer and then his info would be available to be acted upon

They also work with a charity that gives carers a 4 hour respite every week so I can get out and do things for myself . It can be taken as 2 two hour sessions too .

This will help me with things like dentist .chiropractor appointments . They also do carers tea and cake afternoons to get you out of the house so the respite can be used for that too if I want to go .

Our daughter is already doing a complaint letter to the hospital about some aspects of his care and the state he was sent home in will be in it too

:-(

Shirley, that is a truly shocking and totally unacceptable way for your husband to be treated. I do hope that the doctor/nurse will make a formal complaint.

You will have your hands full but it sounds as if your carers are supporting you and caring well for your husband.

Sending a BIG (((hug))) to you today. xx

Thinking of you both Shirley.
It was a terrible way to send him out of hospital, but now he is home he will get all the care you and a good team of carers can provide.
As I said before, get all the help offered as you have to care for yourself too.

I certainly hope you make a complaint to the hospital Shirley - and what a loss of dignity for the poor man.

It's going to be a hard path to begin with but, hopefully, as you get into a routine and get used to having him home, things will get a bit easier.

Sending love......xxx

Glad he's home but I hope you complain to the hospital for the state they sent him home in. No way did they know he wasn't in that state. Lazy *******.

I feel for you, Shirley, and even more so your poor hubby, what a disgusting way to send him home. I hope you will complain.

Not the best of homecomings, especially needing antibiotics too, but with your vigilance and good carers I am sure your hubby will feel much better soon and maybe will regain some recognition too.

Best of luck to you both

You've certainly got your hands full, but I know you wouldn't have it any other way. Take all the help you can get, you deserve it.

Above all take care of yourself x

Well he was booked to come home the morning of mon5th . The ambulance was booked for 10.30/11am so he would be home before his care package started at 12 midday
Carers arrived at 11.45 but he wasn't home so they went to their next appointment

Was on thorns waiting for him to turn up but nope!! Got a a phone call at .2pm from the ward saying it would be 5pm cos the ambulance people needed the carers to be there to hand him over but the agency had other calls so couldn't get back till 5pm

They arrived at 4.45 and the ambulance soon after . They bought him in and transferred him to his bed in the lounge and left. The carers then started to settle him in . HE STANK !! They unrolled him from the hospital sheets that were soiled to see his pyjama trousers were crapped up to the eyebrows ,we had to dump them after they got em off him and poor man was crapped up to eyebrows through his pad ,even the hospital sheets had big brown stains on em . The senior carer said they give em meds to clear em out but he must have crapped some time before as it was drying and his bum was so sore . They bought him home without checking him as he must have been put in his PJ,s for a 10.30 departure. The carers weren't impressed at all

He had a cough for a couple of days before he came home but this got very chesty ,the district nurse came in yesterday to take notes about him and check his observations . She wasn't happy so rang the doc saying he had a chest infection and needs antibiotics . They said we will get the doc to do a home visit which he did and said yes it's a chest infection and left a prescription for antibiotics . He hadnt known he was in hospital as hadn't received his discharge papers .when he realised who he was he was shocked cos the last time he had seen him hubby was ticking over ok .

Well hubby wasn't at all well yesterday . Puked up twice and his pee is looking a bit strong !! He has been sent home with a catheter as he is unable to sit up or stand. Also had to have incontinence pads cos as he cant get out of bed he is unable to use the loo or a commode .
Such a come down for a man who was coping with dementia with Lewy Bodies .

Has been a bit better today and eaten some food and drank fluids although his pee is stiil strong so he is getting dehydrated
The ladies who have been in have been lovely to both of us .its now setling in to a routine and keeping him comfy

Must say I have been contacted with lots of agencies who want to help me as his carer to make sure I can cope and can have some respite care to do things for me .

It's going to be a long road i can see but hubby is my main priority but do know I have to look after me too
