She knows better!!

As some of you know, I recently had a hip operation.

Recovery is slow and frustrating, but I'm doing what the specialist told me, and doing exercises as recommended by the physiotherapist.

Both of them said to put little or no weight on my "operation leg" for at least six weeks, and that I will be using crutches (at least for balance) until the end of the year. No weight on the leg, in case I rip the stiches that are holding the muscle in the right place.

Got a 'phone call this morning from a lady I know slightly, asking how I'm progressing. Nice of her to call..... until.......

OH NO! You must walk about as much as possible, throw away those crutches, or you'll never get better. I told her I was doing what the specialist & physio recommended..... and she still objected!!

After that, all she kept on and on about my "poor husband" who had to look after me!!!

Stupid woman.

There 's always someone who thinks they know better..

Plus others who ask how are you .then proceeds to hog the conversation with " oh I had that and I was so ill with it ,mine was worse than yours "

Why ask if all you want to do is talk about yourself

Can be very irritating especially if one is feeling off anyway at the time
:-( :-(

She annoyed me, but I won't let her get to me, the silly woman.

My lovely "poor husband" has been looking after me very well <3. He's been making some terrific meals, but admits to the easy way out...... buying readymade coleslaw, potato salad etc, & cartons of chocolate mousse!

Shirley....... your comment about "mine was worse than yours".made me laugh......... someone in the family has had tachycardio (spelling?) for years, I'm sure it's horrible to deal with, but I was amazed when she said I had no idea what the pain was like. I have no idea what her pain is like, but this was a couple of months after I had a heart attack! :-S

I'm taking things slowly & gently....... first item on the "larger" getting better list is a slow pedal on the exercise bike (mostly using the good leg) and then going for a gentle stroll on the beach (If I go by the doc's recommendations, that may not be until January).

Baby steps!

I think everybody's circumstances are different. I had a completely new hip in 2008 and was up putting the weight on it with the aid of crutches the second day after the op. I did all the exercises, physio etc and took a short walk everyday.

I guess what suits one op may not suit another.

Do as you were advised and if in doubt maybe query it at your next doctors visit/check up

Thankyou Polly :-D

TS ~ I didn't have a replacement, I had a big repair job. The glut muscle had torn away... the doc said he stitched it back (to what, I have no idea). There's an 8" scar on my thigh.

The doc said (looking at xrays etc) my bones are good, only slight wear so unless I have a nasty fall, there's no need for hip replacemments in the years to come)

I'm taking things slowly, as I don't want to rip the stitches and have to go through all this again.

When I posted the other day I had the thought that she hadn't understood your op and was thinking about a straightforward hip replacement.

I am sure you are happy with the meals your hubby is making, whether part shop bought or homemade. He's a star

Have a good day

I'm shocked & stunned!

Ignorant, judgemental & stupid!

A woman at the golf club (I've never met her, she plays during the week and goes home early, doesn't socialise very much).... for some reason asked my DH how I was. He told her I'd had an operation. She was very surprised........ she knew I'd been seeing various doctors, physiotherapists, naturopaths etc............

and she had the cheek to say........

Oh, she really did have something wrong, I thought she was a hypochondriac!!!!!!

:-P :-P :-P :-P :-P :-P :-P :-P :-P :-P :-P

Stupid mare!

Hope each day brings you closer to a great recovery, Scozz, what a day when you are well enough to go out and put these people in their place!

If I find out who she is, I'll hit her with one of my crutches :-D

Nah, waste of energy. I'm not a violent person, and there's no use trying to knock sense into someone like her.

But I might get out my scrying bowl :-D :-D
