Just a small advantage.When I first joined Lancashire Libraries I was given a temporary login code.Now some years later that code still works.

I've just found my card - and can still access the papers.

It says on their website: 'Anyone residing in the UK may join Lancashire's library service, however our eBook downloads and access to subscription resources are limited to Lancashire residents.' The newspapers aren't by subscription.

I use Lancashire Library online. It's free - all you have to do is join the library online, and you get access.

Does anyone else find the British Newspaper Archive additional feature on Genes Reunited less than useful because of the poor search? The actual Archive website has an advanced search facility that allows you to search for phrases (by putting double quotes around the phrase) and only articles with all listed terms (by putting a + at the start of the list) but Genes Reunited just has a simple search. If you add words (thinking you might reduce the number of articles returned), you actually increase the number! Searching for any ancestor, other than one with an unusual name, is almost impossible. Why can't we have a decent search?
