something like that happened to me last year , I was trying to pay for our holiday on the phone ,when the girl said it wont work . told me to go and sort it out at my bank, so I went in ,they gave me a number to phone ,it seem's that me using it 2 weeks before in stoke (I live down in Sussex) was surspicous ,and that I needed a new card .when I pointed out that I HAD to pay for my holiday that day they opened it for 10 minutes . :-)

Isn't one of the scamming tricks to get you to call back because they are still connected to your phone when you do (unless you use a different phone).

Probably because it was a small amount which is usually the case when an account is hacked. Glad it was OK though.

Two days ago at 8.45am I had a call from my bank questioning me over a suspect payment on my card.

I was a bit taken aback thinking it could be a scam as I could hear the sound of a busy office that you get with these foreign callers....i said I'm not giving you any details over the phone,so I was told to call the number on the back of my credit card.

I had been in the bank organising a big payment for my new car only 2 days before and wondered if it was to do with that.......however when I rang back and given all my security numbers,I waited with bated breath to find out what this was all about..
.
Guess what!...the chap said...you have used your card to make a payment to Genes reunited for £8.96p.,is this genuine?

It was a different card I used this time to renew membership, and good for them that
they check, but it was a bit of a shock first thing in the morning to wonder if I'd been hacked,
