Have tried contacting the submitter? They may be willing to update their entry, or pass 'ownership' to you. CWGC submitters are less likely to obliged.

The rule of thumb for transcribers is Type What You See (not what you know/think)

Does anyone else update this site?

I often add missing info for my researched relatives
I will only do this when I can provide documented evidence.
I receive regular emails from Findagrave advising me that my update has been accepted.

Recently, I received an email informing me that the info that the info I supplied doesn't match with the known info for the deceased?
Yes it does!

The deceased has an odd last name and it's origins are not immediately identifiable.
His Canadian grave is correctly noted as that of a WW1 serviceman.

I already hold the birth cert showing exactly the same birth date as findagrave.
I added "Aberdeen" to the info that simply says: Scotland.

The only other thing that I added was a missing middle name as per his birth record.
The man had 2 middle names but findagrave has omitted one of them

Once his missing middle name is added, it then becomes apparent that his last name is...of German origin.

Is this why they rejected the correct info for a Scots born, WW1 serviceman??.
(No reply email)

He was born in Aberdeen to German born father ( nationalized in Scotland) and a Scots born mother.
All his Naval/emigration documents have his full name on them and some even provide the full name and address for his father in Scotland
