Hospices are wonderful places .................... in many countries of the world, not just in the UK. I would never hesitate to either admit myself or my loved ones to a hospice.

Shirley ..... you have made the right decision. Your husband will be kept comfortable, and pain-free, and you may even find that he is more awake and communicative than he has been.

I am so glad he has been admitted. You can just concentrate on spending time with him without having to do all of the nursing.

I hope you can get some rest yourself

Shirley, I hope you feel easier in your mind now your husband is being cared for in the hospice, you won't need to worry that you have done something wrong (which you hadn't - you have been wonderful) and your husband will be painfree and comfortable at all times without having to have strangers coming in to your home.

My Dad was cared for very well in our local hospice and they looked after my Mum too, she got to know the staff and she was able to speak with them and other families too. In fact she stayed friends with some for several years.

Now you can spend what time you want with your husband without the work and spend time looking after yourself too to stay strong.

Hope the abcess is less painful.

Thinking of you,
Lizxx

Thinking of you Shirley. I have followed this thread but found it hard to comment as I recognise all you are going through. Please look after yourself Shirley you need to be able to stay strong. I admire you for keeping your husband at home with you for as long as was possible. X

Pleased you are happy with the hospice care Shirley, now you can just concentrate on hubby, while others take care of his needs and medication.

Don't forget Shirley, if you need anything, including lifts to the hospice, let me know.

Take care of yourself

I too have seen this thread and did not know what to say to you Shirley. You are a lovely lady and have been very strong.

Please, please look after yourself and get some proper rest and eat properly. You will be no good to anyone if you make yourself ill.

Take good care of yourself.
