I was only thinking this morning that, when I first began to research my family, the 1881 census was due to come out the following year and the record office was busily raising funds to buy it.

After barely six months, hem hem, I am looking forward to the 1921 census being released in six years time.

Fred will be on that one.

It is wonderful, to see the names of family that you actually knew on the census

Both my parents are on the 1911 census and mum was only 16 months old

I was fortunate to know and remember both their mums . Can't remember mums dad as I was only 2 when he passed away . Dads father died in 1911 just after the census but his mum did remarry and that dad died in 1941 so no memory of him either

When I saw them on the census it was an sad ahhhhh moment each time

Both of my paternal grandparents were on the 1911 although I never knew my Grandfather, but I did know my Gran and 3 of my Great Aunts very well. The only difference the 1920 will make to me is my maternal grandmother will be on it the only 1 she will be on. B 1912 D 1929

I only knew my Father's Mother & my Mother's Father.
They were both on the 1901 Census.

Both my grandmothers and my grandfather and step-grandfather were on the 1911 census, actually, both the males were on the 1901 census :-(
Never knew the males - my step grandfather died 3 years before I was born, and my grandfather died 6 weeks before I was born.

I'm feeling old :-|

BUT I may find my g granddad's former wife. G granddad and G grandma didn't marry until 1924, after the death of his former wife - (allegedly in an asylum) - and by then they'd had 9 children, also the year before their eldest living child (my gran) got married!!!!!!

OH is not that interested in my researches, so unless it is something sensational I don't usually bother him - the great exception was when I showed him the 1911 census - "That's my grandfather's writing|"

If I said that to my Dad his comment would be "yeah so. he could write! what is your point? if he said anything at all.

Some people are really neat writers some are not.

All 4 of my grandparents were on the 1911, as were my mother and father.

My dad's father died in 1914 and his mother in 1938, so I didn't know either of them, but Mum's parents lived into the 1950s and 1960s.

My maternal gt grandfather was also on the 1911, living with his daughter and granddaughter ................... Mum had never told me that her granddad had lived with them, so that was a big surprise.

My maternal Grandparents are on the 1891 onwards but my paternal Grandmother doesn't appear until 1911 and my paternal Grandfather should make his first appearance in 1921.

And no there isn't a great age gap between my parents, they are both 84, but my first cousins range in age from 80 to 42.

Uzzi, how sad. Age just 17.

I am hoping my missing Gt. gt. grandmother will appear on the 1921, I suspect in an asylum somewhere. If not I give up on her.

My paternal grandfather was in the 1881 census, and my paternal grandmother in the 1890 census. Both my maternal grandparents didn't appear until the 1911 one.

My maternal grandmother was the same age as my paternal grandparent's eldest daughter!

My four grandparents (all of whom I remember), my father and five of my great-grandparents are on the 1911. My mother was born Oct. 1911.

I knew very little about any of my great-grandparents until I started family history.

People's comments have cheered me up - I'm not as old as I feel :-D

Mum should appear on the 1921, but it's too early for Dad. He was her Toy Boy ;-)
Naturally, both sets of grandparents are on the 1901 and earlier. if not married, then with their own parents.
