I can't better it as I'm not old enough

However this reflects a direct line between mothers and daughters

My ggg grandmother was born in 1845.
My gg grandmother in 1867
My g grandmother in 1887
my grandmother in 1910
my mother in 1930
my sister in 1954
my niece/ sister's daughter in 1973
My niece's twins were born in 1992

8 generations over 147yrs.
Averages at a new generation every 18.5 yrs

I can do 7 as well. I last saw my Great Grandmother when I was 6, but I can't say I really remember her.

My late MIL knew 7 generations. She was born in 1916, her g grandmother died in 1932, and she had g grandchildren. She was 99 years and 1 month old when she died in August. Her 2 sisters also lived well into their 90's.

My neighbour has great-grandchildren. Her mother is alive as is the sister of her mother's father and their mother died in the 1970s so I remember her and so will my neighbourand probably her children will too.

I'd be interested to know if anyone can better this.
My 86 year old uncle has known 8 generations of his family. He was 3 when his gt grandmother died & last year his gt gt grandnephew was born-a span of 182 years from 1832 to 2014. I myself have known 7 generations, from my gt grandmother to the latest addition.
