We had to take down the bannister rail and spindles to get enough room to turn one settee we bought. Right PITA it was. When we changed it I cut it in half.

A removals firm might have the expertize to get it in or an upholsterer.

I paid a removals firm to get my big sofa up our narrow stairs when we had the hospital bed in.

This seems to be the norm now - furniture too big to get into the house or the interior door.

This happened to one of our offspring recently- the delivery people had to take it back then rearrange with a 'man wot does'. He said he gets fed up with customers not being made aware when they place the order. At least it keeps him employed!

Presumably in your daughter's case, it can't be split into sections.

That's such a shame Ann. I have a friend who had a problem three piece suite but the company arranged to have the glass from her front room window taken out, put the suite through that and then had the window put back in. It was a nuisance but at least she got the suite she really wanted - though she will have the same carry on if she wants to change it !

No matter how old they are, you never stop feeling upset for your children when they are hurt do you? Especially when there is nothing you can do to put things right. Our daughter has really coped very well since her husband died last December, she has taken holidays and has bought a bungalow as where she was was a bit isolated. She has completely redecorated the bungalow and is moving in this week. Everything has gone well, new bathroom put in, new cloakroom made out of a store cupboard.

today her Lounge suite (two settees) and her two dining room chairs were due to arrive. No problem with the dining room chairs. But the settees won't go through the door. Apparently the store should have told her that this suite should only be ordered if there were double doors. We were with her when she first looked at it and at no time did the salesman mention that. She says at no time when she confirmed the order was it mentioned. And it is not written down anywhere. So now she has no lunge suite. She is so disappointed and says it looked lovely too. She is now waiting to hear from the shop. I should add, it was a very expensive suite.

I really feel upset for her but know there is nothing I can do.

Just wanted a rant. :-( :-(
