Has 'Strictly Come Prancing' finished yet?

Not everyone has catch up on their TV, and not everyone likes watching TV programmes on a laptop/tablet etc.

There are 1001 things to do in Glos. other than watch the TV not all counties in the UK are so lucky. I could easily have stretched the list to 100.

Thanks to MaggieW. it finally clicked with me that people want to watch soaps at fixed times and don't like it when the soaps are shunted off to some other time 'cos of live sport.

For years and years this has never occurred to me as the general idea of structuring my time around tv schedules is not a thing I'd consider. I just watch what's on when I have the time otherwise if it is something I really want to see then there is catchup. And if not avail on catch up... so be it.

Given the big audiences who watch soaps maybe the live sports such as Rugby world cup could go out on BBC2/3 ITV2 and so on ... so long as the transmission is in HD or 4G it wouldn't bother me any. If Whittingdale gets his way live sport will only be avalable with Murderocs and BT anyway which will satisfy soap fans - at a price.

I like some soaps - Fargo, Twin Peaks, Miami Vice, Corrie ( B&W ) - but even then keeping up is too much of a hassle. Is "Today in Parliament" a soap? If not why not ?

'Talk tidy' - as John Williams often said in his attempt to teach us all a bit of 'Wenglish'.

I have his tape. Very funny.

I can't remember precisely, but Lee said something concerning 'the arrogant Welsh' :-0

Edit: or ' arrogant Wales'

Wonder what Lee said. running to form then Lee I assume.

Rollo yes you have told us before that you know this area well. Just don't know why you didn't make it a general post but instead directed it at me.

According to my OH, yes Glos RFC are formidable, when they remember how to win. I may not follow rugby but have a husband who does and a son and grandson who were at at least two of the quarter finals and both semi finals and the final. So absorb a bit about it. Just aggravated that it messes up the TV schedules.

I don't watch soaps, but understand your irritation, Autumnleaves.

Personally I do not care what sport is televised - preferably on a sports channel.

What I think may annoy many people is when they think they are going to settle for an hour of their favourite soaps like Emmerdale and Coronation street, only to find they are stuck with football for ages.

Since Corry is a long standing well loved favourite. always shown at 7.30pm maybe it should remain so.

for AnninGlos

I have a lot of rellies in Stroud and Thornbury, lived in Chipping Sodbury for some time. I like Gloucester inc its excellent cheeses. I don't need Google to get around the county! There are though those that have never had the pleasure of visiting Gloucestershire except whizzing through on the M5. They should stay awhile.

Gloucester RFC are a pretty formidable bunch.

Much prefer Rugby Union to football, and it was a good game :-D

AnninGlos - I'm sooo glad you know where you live :-D
Rollo seems to think we 'wimmin' have no idea of either local amenities/places of interest or the local topography :-D :-D

AnninGlos

I totally agree with you.

Here in Oz, apart from being on the sports section of the 'free to air' TV stations' news programmes, there has hardly been a word about the Rugby; for which I have been extremely grateful :-D :-D :-D

Look at it this way - Fewer Countries played in the Rugby WC than in the Football version. Be thankful for small mercies!
