If it´s a leak Allan then we have a very big problem as it´s about a 3rd of the down on the back wall and we have steps going up that wall :-(

You have just filled me with dread, for next week I am having a mural painted on my bedroom wall. Not cheap, not cheap at all, Today we had rain, lots of it, and on that wall I noticed a blown area of plaster :-0 :-0 :-0 :-0 :-0

Hi Gins

We think that is what our problem is.

The entry point is on the single store part of the house, but as well as collecting the rainwater from this single storey roof the gutter also collects water from half of the second-storey roof. The three downpipes on the single storey part just can't cope :-(

We had the same problem Allan

The gutters could cope with average rain fall but when it belted it down.....drip drip drip into the living room from the bay window.

The problem was, only one down pipe to the guttering. Had another down pipe installed and the problem was solved.

Scozz,

It's not the stain that's the problem but the continuing leak when we have heavy rain :-( :-( :-(

Allan ~ there's a solution available in Oz, for covering up water stains on painted surfaces, sorry I can't help with the name of it, but the BigBoysToyShop (Bunnings) might stock it.

I only know about it because the painters used it on the ceiling of our family room when we had the flood in the house two years ago.

We didn't paint it ourselves, because it was covered by insurance.

That's true :-(

Allan

Allan Report 31 Oct 2015 22:50

But first we have to cure the problem

Whilst indoor water features may be quite relaxing to the psyche, rainwater pouring down the inside of a window has, on me, the totally opposite effect! :-D :-D :-D :-D

You can buy stain coverer for paint :-D

My sister used it when she moved into her house over 20 years ago - to cover nicotine stains.

'says she taking another drag of her fag' :-S

AnnCardiff

AnnCardiff Report 31 Oct 2015 22:38

well no big deal to paint it again then :-D

Allan

Allan Report 31 Oct 2015 22:23

We don't have wallpaper on the ceilings, AnnC, just paint ;-) :-D :-D :-D

AnnCardiff

AnnCardiff Report 31 Oct 2015 22:21

are you aware you can buy a special solution to cover over water stains on wallpaper - if you don't use the solution the stain will keep showing
