Anyone planning to fly in or out of London?

Sounds good :-D

Don't expect the spare room/warehouse to get cleared permanently. If the girls dont boomerang back from Uni or relationships, they end up lodging between house purchases or renting. Then, they can also use it as 'temporary' storage as there is not enough room in their own place!

It's sounds as if you have exciting times ahead. You're not losing a daughter, but gaining a son. It's good that he's already helping out.

It's already planned Det,
Next week, OH will be in on business in the South West of England
I am flying to join him in Bristol where we have a nice, long weekend organised.

I was invited to London too but I have no interest in Americal Football.
When they decided to add in the Saturday night shows, there were still flights, accomodation and show tiickets available but, I had already made other plans for myself and our other girls.
Wedding planning/ buying for our eldest daughter instead of London and our spare room is starting to resemble a warehouse

Well, at least they are comfortable and warm. I missed the travelling First Class last night :-D

Hopefully the car, family and you will all be reunited tonight. Then you can start working on a 'special' outing for yourself ;-)

They are on their way to Glasgow by train.
They had been offered a 7am flight from City Airport but, there was still no guarantee that it wouldn't be delayed/cancelled again.
Even if they did agree and find a hotel for last night, the DLR is on strike today and getting back into the airport again would be another challenge.
(7am flight left at 9.30 but they were already at Euston)

The car is still at Glasgow Airport.
When the train arrives at Glasgow central, they will take a train to Paisley where our ( soon to be) son in law ( marrying a different daughter) will collect them and take them to the car so they can finally drive home
:-D :-D :-D :-D

Your daughter's status is sooo funny :-D :-D

If she is being treated to West End Theatre tickets, have you put the thumb screws to have the same? OK, may be not in London, but perhaps something closer to home? ;-)

Another Night To Myself ??

They've been to all 3 games in London in the last few weeks.
They go down on the Saturday morning and take in a show at night
Lion King this week, Michael McIntyre last week and a West End Show ( The Book Of Mormon) the first week .

I bet they're now booked 1st class on the Virgin Train home too!

Edit:
Daughters FB status at 5pm made me chuckle:

Flight delayed. Flight cancelled. Flight uncancelled. Flight cancelled. Re-booked on later flight. Not re-booked on later flight. Flight un-cancelled. Officially re-booked on later flight. Flight cancelled. Flight uncancelled. Flight cancelled.
It's been a busy 30 mins!

:-D :-D :-D :-D :-D :-D

Make the most of an extra night with the bed to yourself. Make a Star :-D

Since OH wondered what I was looking at, he suggested that after a break-the-ice conversation, the other people in the meeting would have accepted your's bizarre attire. Still, as its doubtful others can get there, he may as well potter back on the train tomorrow. ;-)

Det,
He could do that but, I cant imagine what his clients would make of it.
He has no business clothes with him.
NFL tops, jeans and trainers are all he has in his case.

Anyway, they have just called me and have made a decision.
They don't want to be rebooked on any flight for tomorrow as there's no guarantee that anything will be on time.

They have booked themselves into a hotel at Euston for tonight and are coming home by train tomorrow.

Only other issue is that his car is at Glasgow Airport

:-D :-D :-D

Errr...all Glasgow flights remaining today have been cancelled - has he thought about staying down in London for Wednesday? It hardly seems worth coming home then hoping to fly out again the next day

5pm flight cancelled and they are now rebooked again for 8pm

OH manages his own dept so his employers will have no issues, but he's due to fly down again first thing on Wednesday on business returning on Friday.
Daughter works for HMRC.
Her boss has been given the flight Nos and can monitor the situation for himself.

As they are still in City airport, it's now too late to cross London in time for the last train to Glasgow..

They were on the 2pm flight last week, and were home before 5pm

Will their employers - if relevant - be understanding? One day off, may be. Two? Hmm, not that they can get home anyway. It would be cheaper to lose a days wage then pay through the nose for a train ticket!

Airline has told them that they will be given hotel accomodation if the flight does not leave tonight.
Their friends at Heathrow were put up in a hotel last night and have been warned that they may be sleeping there again tonight !

suggests the skies will be clear. Now where did they leave that plane? :-S

+++DetEcTive+++ Report 2 Nov 2015 15:46

There's bound to be knock-on problems later, with planes being in the wrong place. Have the airline given them food vouchers or doesn't that count if they haven't checked in?

Hope they manage to get off this afternoon.

OH and daughter spent the weekend in London for the last of the NFL games at Wembley.
They were due to fly home today and were glad because most flights last night were cancelled due to fog.

Their 2pm flight for this afternoon has also been cancelled due to fog and have been rebooked to fly on another flight at 5pm.

So far today, only one flight is ( currently) boarding and everything else out of London City is either cancelled or delayed including their 5pm flight.

They're stuck in London City and ther friends have been at Heathrow since yesterday evening.
