This thread has inspired me to look through my DVDs and I've found many that have been posted on here that I didn't remember I had! :-D

aw, what about...
REBECCA .... Laurence Olivier and Joan Fontaine <3

Hi Everyone :-)

Rose, it sounded like you had a great night! Like certain songs, films can remind us of special times! :-)

KenSE, Overboard is another great film!
and Dances with Wolves too, Sol!

Well, looking through my earlier list has made me realise that they are mostly Rom Coms!:-D So more to add to my list of favourites

DOC HOLLYWOOD .... Michael J Fox and Julie Warner

HOPE FLOATS ....... Sandra Bullock and Harry Connick Junior

THE LAKE HOUSE .... Sandra Bullock and Keano Reeves (which includes another favourite genre of mine - Time Travel)

and talking of time travel, I just loved this one -
SOMEWHERE IN TIME ... Christopher Reeve and Jane Seymour

Reeve plays Richard Collier, a playwright who becomes smitten by a photograph of a young woman at the Grand Hotel. Through self-hypnosis, he travels back in time to the year 1912 to find love with actress Elise McKenna (portrayed by Seymour).

The haunting theme tune of that film
Rachmaninoff's "Rhapsody on a Theme of Paganini"

Goosebumps music!

ON MOONLIGHT BAY and the sequel BY THE LIGHT OF THE SILVERY MOON
(or it may be the other way around) ..... DORIS DAY and GORDON MACREA

Off to think of some more! :-D

Tootsie is great, thanks for the reminder I will dig it out and watch it ( video !) I saw it with Aussie friends when it first came out, fun evening followed by them singing Waltzing Matilda on the train home :-D

I'm with you Jemima. Tootsie is a favourite of mine too. For anyone who hasn't seen it, don't switch off after the first few minutes thinking it's not for you. The first bit is really just setting up the background to the story.

Another favourite is The Lion in Winter but I'm not sure that would usually be considered a romance. I've enjoyed some of the others mentioned but often think the book is better eg Captain Corelli's Mandolin.

Love story , A Room With A View . The Body Guard ..Barbra

Sharron Report 3 Nov 2015 08:58

I have not seen any of the films so far mentioned but does Crocodile Dundee count?

I also thought Nicholas Lyndhurst was an excellent romantic lead as Freddie Robdall in the prequel to Only Fools and Horses, Rock and Chips.

'Brief Encounter' every time.

Hi Elizabeth :-)

I really like many of the films posted above

One of my all-time favourite films is TOOTSIE with Dustin Hoffman and Jessica Lange.
For those who haven't seen it before, it's about an out of work actor who dresses as a woman to get a role, but then falls in love with the leading lady!

Then there's ROMANCING THE STONE, with Michael Douglas and Kathleen Turner.

Anything with Sandra Bullock (especially SPEED) and Meg Ryan.

WHILE YOU WERE SLEEPING ... Sandra Bullock and Bill Pullman

THE FRENCH KISS with Meg Ryan and Gérard Depardieu

NOTTING HILL - Hugh Grant and Julia Roberts

PEGGY SUE GOT MARRIED ... Kathleen Turner and Nicolas Cage

YANKS ... Richard Gere and Lisa Eichhorn

NADINE ... Kim Basinger and Jeff Bridges

SABRINA ... Julia Ormond and Harrison Ford

SIX DAYS SEVEN NIGHTS .... Anne Heche and Harrison Ford

THE THRILL OF IT ALL .... Doris Day and James Garner

I shall think of some more! :-D

Brief encounter and The Bridges of Madison County are both favourites of mine. But I am soft and love films like White Christmas and High society. Then there is On Golden Pond. And how about Cary Grant in Houseboat. Carousel as well. Just realised they are all old ones lol!
